William Henry Williams, Sr., (Bill), 82, of Lumpkin, Georgia, passed away on January 8, 2016, at Gentiva Hospice, in Columbus, Georgia. He was born on July 8, 1933, in Russell County, Alabama, to the late Jessie Nathan Williams and Martha Mae Claxton.
Bill was retired from farming in Stewart County. He loved growing his crops and raising cattle. He enjoyed being with his family, friends, his dogs and cat.
Bill had several nicknames and it was according to who he was with or what time of day it was, to which name he used. You might have "Wild Bill" with you or "Sweet Bill"! Bill was a person that loved to joke and have a good time. He truly enjoyed living life!
Bill and Pat lived in the County Line area of Stewart County Georgia. He moved to Stewart County about 1977 from Midland, Georgia. They were members of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church until this church merged with Lumpkin United Methodist Church.
Bill is preceded in death by both of his parents and his first wife, mother of his children, Barbara Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Cordell Williams of Lumpkin, Georgia; one son, William H. "Bubba" Williams, Jr., of Lumpkin, Georgia; three daughters, Celina Diane "Gogo" (Steve, "Ace") Affolter of Lumpkin, Georgia, Martha Denise "Bunny" Williams of Cataula, Georgia, Barbara Flora "Candy" Williams of Columbus, Georgia; one brother, Pat Williams; three grandchildren, Gillian Affolter, William Williams, III, Laura Stoltz; and one great grandchild.
A Memorial Service and Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at the Lumpkin United Methodist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia. The Reverend Dan Smith will conduct the service.
