William Vause
Hearon
March 18, 1943 – February 12, 2025
William Vause "Bill" Hearon, Jr., passed away on, February 12, 2025, in Sandy Springs, Georgia. He was born on March 18, 1943, in Americus, Georgia, to the late William Vause Hearon, Sr. and Christine Johnson Hearon.
Bill is preceded in death by both of his parents and his beloved wife, Bonnie.
Bill grew up in Americus, Georgia and also cherished his youth in Webster County with many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He graduated from Americus High School and later Georgia Tech, earning a degree in engineering. He next found himself far away from home in Seattle, Washington working for Boeing on the F15 project. He transferred to Lockheed in Dallas, Texas in the late 60's where he met his wife, Bonnie. After a brief transfer to St. Louis, Missouri, he decided to strike out on his own and moved his young family back to Georgia closer to his aging parents. The family soon grew from 3 to 6 as he spent the next decade and a half farming in Webster County. During this time, he served as a deacon at Macedonia Baptist Church where he came to know Reverend Ed Holloway who sold his wholesale antiques business, "Browse About" to Bill, and the family moved to Lumpkin, Georgia.
These were big leaps: engineering – farming – antiquing – but to Bill, it was not unusual to quickly learn something new. Working with "Browse About" gave him the opportunity to meet many people, and he took several trips to England and even Hungary to grow the business. Most recently, Bill served on the Board of Tax Assessors for Stewart County where he formed more meaningful friendships.
To those who knew him, he was a sharer of stories and facts he seemed to absorb like a sponge; he loved to talk to people. With his family, he was fond of watching late-night movies while sharing a huge bowl of popcorn, and he enjoyed planning special holidays and family get togethers.
Conquering cancer left him with immense gratitude and zest for life over the last decade. His sometimes authoritarian exterior always gave way to kindness and generosity when called upon. He had great respect for his roots and his family, and he passed that along to his children. He was an adventurer, a teacher, and a leader by example for the family and friends who will miss him dearly.
A Church Service will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, near Centerpoint, on Saturday afternoon, February 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM, with burial in the church cemetery. The Reverend Robert Orr officiating the service with Janet Burkes providing piano music.

Bill is survived by his four daughters, Laura (Robert) Laurent of Pass Christian, Mississippi, Barbara (Kemp) Amason of Atlanta, Georgia, Charlotte Hearon of Atlanta, Georgia and Natalie Hearon of Atlanta, Georgia.
