Obituary

William Jack Chesnut Sr. died Saturday morning June 1, 2013 at Patterson Memorial Hospital in Cuthbert, Georgia. Born on December 2nd, 1939 the son of Mr. & Mrs. W.P. Chesnut, he graduated from Stewart County High School in 1957.  In 1961, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Tyndall Air Force base in Panama City, Florida until he received an Honorable Discharge in 1967.

After serving, he began a successful career in agribusiness working with Carters Agri Supply, Stewart Farmers Inc. and Stewart Peanut Company. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of farming and raising cattle until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, listening to country music and spending time with his friends and family.

Jacky is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mina Bloom Chesnut and sons, Bill (Sonia) Chesnut and Joe (Robyn) Chesnut; and two sisters, Diane (Tommy) Babb, and June Bennett Lynn.  He is also survived by his granddaughters, Mary Margaret, Sarah and Ansley.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Northside Cemetery Fund thru Baldwin Funeral Home, P O Box 394, Richland, GA 31825.

A Visitation with the family was held Sunday, June 2, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, GA, with Graveside Services on Monday, June 3, at Northside Cemetery in Lumpkin, GA.


Services were conducted by the: Reverend Grant Abernathy and Reverend Robert Orr, with Martha Jordan, vocalist.  Pall bears were:  Matt Holloway, Sib Fort, Randy Mathis, Jim Kelley, Kelly Bennett, Eddie Riles


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lumpkin Northside Cemetery, and mailed to Baldwin Funeral Home, P O Box 394, Richland, GA  31825.
