Wilkes W. Broach, Jr. was born January 24, 1928 in Richland Georgia to the late W. Ward Broach, Sr. and Lois Peek Broach, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Columbus Hospice House.

A 1945 graduate of Richland High School, he attended the University of Georgia; and served in the United States Air Force.

Wilkes worked for McKesson and Robbins and later for Newton Specialty Advertising.  Before retiring Wilkes worked diligently in pharmaceutical sales.  He became a Territory Sales Manager dedicating more than 40 years of loyal service to the Mead Johnson Nutritional Division-Bristol-Myers Squibb Company.

He served as a long-time member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church in Columbus, GA, serving and volunteering where needed.

Wilkes was an involved member in the Coweta Falls Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, Columbus, GA.; was a member in the Masons Smith Lodge 85, Richland, GA, for over 50 years; and a member of American Legion Post 35.

Wilkes Broach was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara Ann Allen Broach; a brother, Walter Clinton Broach; a brother-in-law, Robert C. McConnell; and two sister-in-laws, Marie C. Broach and Emily A. Montgomery.

Survivors include Wilkes' sister, Mrs. Robert C. McConnell, the former Ruth Ann Broach of Richland, GA; two nieces, Barbara Lois McConnell of Columbus, GA, and Nancy Broach Morgan of Stone Mountain, GA; two nephews, Keith R. McConnell, Sr., of Auburn, GA, and Hurdis M. Broach of Lawrenceville, GA; two great nephews, two great nieces, many relatives and in-laws.
