On January 29th, 2022, after a prolonged decline in health, Vivian Robertson passed peacefully at Sumter Retirement Village in Plains, Georgia.
She was born in Lithonia, Georgia on May 23rd, 1937, to the late Euel and Irene Abbott. She was the youngest of five sisters and two brothers.
She was married to Joel Robertson of Conyers, Georgia on April 19, 1955. She then traveled with Joel, who was in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958, as he was stationed in Japan and Iwo Jima. Upon their return home they lived in Athens, Georgia, where Joel attended the University of Georgia.
They settled in Lumpkin, Georgia where she was a homemaker and raised her two sons, Allen and Andrew Robertson. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and keeping house. She always supported Joel and was the bookkeeper for his real estate company, Frontier Land Company.
She lived in Lumpkin for 56 years and was always involved in the community. A large portion of her time was spent volunteering at Richland Baptist Church in youth programs, various committees and as treasurer.
Her favorite pastime was playing bridge with her bridge club in Lumpkin. This was almost a weekly occurrence for many years. She was also very close to her brothers and sisters and traveled to see them often. Most of her family called her "Bib" and she was known as Aunt Bib to her many nieces and nephews.
Vivian and Joel both enjoyed travel. Their favorite places to visit were Jackson, Wyoming, Oregon and one trip to Alaska, where they drove with her sister, Anna and her husband, Buddy Hynson. In her later years she enjoyed many trips to Blue Ridge, Georgia.
She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she spent hours reading, playing games and teaching them.
She is survived by her son Al (Nancy) of Buena Vista, son Andy (Georgette) of Marietta. She is also survived by her grandchildren Priscilla Kidd, Erica Dotterer, George and Annie Robertson, and her great grandchildren Caitlin and Riley Kidd.
We will miss her kind voice and loving smile she shared with all those she met. We will also miss her unrelenting conservative point of view.
A Church Service will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 2:15 pm, at Richland First Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be held at the church, before the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
Burial will be at Smyrna Presbyterian Church, 2920 Hwy 212, Conyers, GA. on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 2:00 PM.
In Lieu of Flowers: donations may be made in Vivian's memory to the Richland First Baptist Church.
