Shirley Davis Ivey, 65, of Buena Vista, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 30th at the Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia surrounded by her family. She was born on February 28, 1950, in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia, to Helen Stephens Adams and the late Emory W. Davis.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father and a grandson, Matthew Seavers.

Survivors include her loving husband, Joe; son, Eric Ivey (Shannon Burns); daughter, Rene Ivey; her mother, Helen Adams of Richland, Georgia; a brother, Jeff Averett of Americus, Georgia; a sister, Sheila A. Jones (Stephen) of Rome, Georgia; five grandchildren, Justin Ivey, Darren Luhm, Polly Sanders, Paige Sanders, Marie Seavers; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Shirley was recently retired as a Human Resource Manager from Lowe's after 20 years of loyal service. She was an active member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Buena Vista, Georgia.

Shirley sang with the Joymakers gospel quartet for 12 years and continued her ministry through the final days of her life, touching everyone around her by spreading God's word through song. She was known for her captivating smile and her love of life, family, and God. Everything she did was for others, always putting their needs above her own. Seeing a need in the community, she was led by the Lord and became very involved with the nonprofit organization, "No Tears for Christmas" in Buena Vista.

Her hobbies were simple: spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family reveling in their accomplishments and being there to encourage, listen, and lifting their spirits in time of need. She had a passion for nature and all of God's wonders. She enjoyed sitting on her back porch with her husband, Joe for hours watching the deer and hummingbirds.

A Visitation Service with family and friends will be held on Monday evening, November 2, 2015 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home, in Richland, Georgia.

The Chapel Service will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at 3:00 PM, at the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel, in Richland, Georgia, with burial in Harmony Cemetery, in Richland, Georgia.

The Reverends' Tim Cadenhead and Robert Orr officiated over the service and burial.
