Sarah Horne Carter, 87, of Richland, passed away peacefully at Four County Health Care on Sunday, September 18, 2011.  She was born June 5, 1924 in Marion County Georgia, to the late Eunice Johnson Horne and John Luther Horne.

Other than her parents, Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Carter, her brothers James Horne and John F. Horne and her nephew, Myron S. Horne.  Mrs. Carter, a resident of Richland most of her life, was a retired radio dispatcher for the City of Richland.  She was a dedicated member of Richland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her niece, Joy H. Shalmy (Pat) of Henderson, NV; great-nephew, Marcus Horne (DeNaye) of Richland, GA; great-niece, Elizabeth H. Ward, of Savannah, GA; great-great nieces, Erin Horne and Joy Hickox; great-great nephews, Jamie Hickox and John Ross Ward; and her special caregivers Wylene Harris and Rebekah Watson.

Graveside Service are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011, at Harmony Cemetery, Richland, GA, with Rev. Robert Orr officiating.
