Samuel "Sam" W. Worthington, III, 73, passed away on July 11, 2016 at his home in Cusseta, GA.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, GA.

A Chapel Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel in Richland, GA.
Mr. Worthington was a native of Stewart County, GA and he is predeceased by his parents, Samuel W. Worthington, Jr. and Mary H. Worthington and his son, Samuel W. Worthington, IV.

He received his undergraduate and Law School degrees from the University of Georgia. He came to Columbus, GA to practice law in 1970 where he continued to practice until his death.

He was a member of the Georgia Bar Association and the Columbus Lawyers Club. He was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals and United States District Court.

Mr. Worthington was a lifetime Georgia Bulldogs fan and an avid turkey hunter and fly fisherman. He enjoyed living out in the country, with his wife, Betty and their dogs.

He is survived by his wife Betty J. Worthington of Cusseta, GA; his children: Michael Worthington (Kathleen) of Columbus, GA, Kimberly Ridley of Columbus, GA, and Elizabeth Hall of Albany, GA; his step-children: Tiffany Lowe (Sean) of Kennesaw, GA, Patrick King of Hollywood, CA and Katherine Erbs of London, UK; his sister Mary Jo Dudley (Jack Williamson) of Bainbridge, GA and his brother Joseph William Worthington (Rhonda) of Houston, TX. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Columbus Hospice; checks may be mailed in care of Baldwin Funeral Home.

There will be a family lunch held at the Lumpkin Methodist Church for the Sam Worthington Family on Saturday, July 16, 2016. The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 16, at 11:00 AM, at the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel in Richland, Georgia. The family will leave after the service to go to the church for lunch. The church fellowship hall will be unlocked Saturday morning so that people bring food for the lunch.
