Rucker Taliaferro Taylor, Jr., 96, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, Georgia.

Mr. Taylor's Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at 3:00 PM Graveside Service at the Harmony Cemetery, Ponder Street, Richland, Georgia. Reverends'' Robert Orr and Kevin Moore will conduct the service.

Mr. Taylor was born on February 14, 1920, in Richland, Georgia, to the late Rucker Taliaferro Taylor, Sr. and Wilanne Harpe Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Joines Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was a World War II Navy Veteran. His ship, the USS Bunker Hill, was bombed by Japanese planes and suffered extensive damage with over 600 casualties. Mr. Taylor enjoyed discussing first-hand accounts of World War II and sacrifices made by the US Armed Forces.

Mr. Taylor was a retired farmer. He had farmed for many years raising livestock, owned a dairy, and row cropped many crops including peanuts and corn. He had a great love of raising hogs and cows and began farming early in his teenage years. He was a life time resident of Richland.

He is survived by his two sons, Rucker Taliaferro (Ginger) Taylor, William Franklin (Teressa) Taylor, Sr. and one daughter, Susan Taylor Meyer. He is survived by four grandchildren: Jennifer Meyer Green, Kenneth Taylor Meyer, Rucker Taliaferro Taylor IV, and William Franklin Taylor, Jr.
