Obituary

Patricia Yvonne Cordell Logan went home to the Lord on October 30, 2026, and will be greatly missed by her family and all who loved her. Pat was born April 6,1941, to Mary Allmon Cordell and Robert Leslie Cordell.

She grew up in the Shiloh Community near Plains, Georgia, where she shared her childhood with her sister, Anne. Pat loved helping her father tend to the family farm, something that instilled a love for nature and the outdoors, along with a work ethic that lasted her entire life. She graduated from Plains High School and attended Georgia Southwestern University.

After college, Pat and her husband, John C. Logan, Sr., settled on a large farm in Stewart County, just outside of Lumpkin, Georgia, where they raised their children, Karon and J. On the farm, Pat loved managing their various endeavors, which included a large Christmas tree farm, a pig farm, a commercial greenhouse operation, and her beloved Charolais cattle herd. Pat also quickly became ingrained in the Lumpkin community, helping run the family business, Lumpkin Drugs, a fixture on the town square for 42 years. Pat not only helped in the pharmacy, but ran the front of the store, which included a florist shop where Pat prepared all the arrangements for years of celebrations and remembrances throughout the region.

Pat also had a true sense of adventure, evidenced by her obtaining her private pilot’s license, learning to snow ski late in life with her grandchildren, and taking the family on adventure trips that included such things as snowmobiling through Yellowstone National Park in sub zero temperatures for 4 days with nothing but a duffle bag on the back of the snowmobile.

Pat was a member of Lumpkin United Methodist Church, and later in life also attended Wesley Chapel Methodist Church with her then husband, Bill Williams. More than anything else, Pat Logan loved her family. Her happiest times were when everyone could be together gathered around her table, sharing stories and plenty of laughter. She was extremely proud of her children, Karon and J., but her love for her grandchildren, Logan, Loreley, John and Anna, was unmatched. She loved nothing more than having them all come spend time with her at the farm, running around the fields, fishing in the ponds, riding the four wheelers and mules all over to check out her cows, and watching all the movies and eating all the snacks their parents didn’t need to know about. She was also blessed to get to meet and spend time with her first great grandchild, Eloise, born in 2025.

Pat will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her family will miss her most of all. While they will miss her physical presence, her spirit will live on through the lessons and values she taught them. They will also remember her with every blackberry cobbler they eat and every family oyster roast and fish fry they put together. She leaves behind a legacy of love, and it was an honor to be loved by her.

Pat is survived by her children, Karon and Jacky Layfield (Shiloh Community, Americus, Georgia) and J. and Linda Logan (Columbus, Georgia); her grandchildren, Logan Layfield (Stockbridge, Georgia), Loreley Layfield (Columbus, Georgia), John and Rachel Logan (Southport, Florida), Anna and Garrett Hartley (Birmingham, Alabama); and great-grandchild, Eloise Logan (Southport, Florida). She is also survived by nephew Mark Reid (New Orleans, Louisiana), niece Tara and Skeeter Winstead (Williamson, Georgia), and great nephews Mahlon Winstead (Grace) and Zach Winstead.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, 2:00 PM, at Lumpkin United Methodist Church, 1681 Broad Street, Lumpkin, Georgia, for all who knew and loved her to celebrate her life and legacy.
