Oscar Coma Horton, 76, died on November 5, 2019, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Georgia. Oscar was born July 17, 1943 in Omaha, Georgia, Stewart County to the late Frazier C. Horton and Byrd Henson Horton.
After graduating from High School, Oscar went to work at Marlette Coach Company in Americus Georgia building mobile homes. Starting in 1966 he was employed by Fort Benning and retired in 1995 as an Environmental Specialist, Civil Service.
Oscar was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Betty L. Horton of 48 years, two brothers, Randy Horton of Buena Vista, Georgia, John "Benny" (Helen) Horton of Lumpkin, Georgia; one sister, Linda (Billy) Miller of Cusseta, Georgia; five children, James (Rhonda) Harden of Ellerslie, Georgia, Gary (Nancy) Harden of Cusseta, Georgia, Carole (John) Bolen of Phenix City, Alabama, Laura Schwartz of Cataula, Georgia, Donnie (Denise) Harden of Valley, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Visitation Service will be held on Thursday evening, November 7, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, Georgia.
The family request all food be taken to the Cusseta First Baptist Church in Cusseta. The food will be used at the meal for the family after the service.
A Church Service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Cusseta First Baptist Church in Cusseta, Georgia, with the Reverend Mark Hudson officiating the service. Oscar will be buried in the Cusseta City Cemetery (Old Harmony Cemetery, Upper Level Cemetery).
