On January 30, 2025, Olin Wimberly "Pat" Patterson, III, passed away at his home in Lumpkin, Georgia.  He was born in Cuthbert, Georgia, on November 30, 1955, to Winifred "Winnie" Harris Patterson and the late Olin Wimberly Patterson, Jr.

Pat is survived by his mother, Winnie, two brothers, Charles H. Patterson, II and Frederick Taylor Patterson; his niece, Jennifer Lynn Culpepper and several great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, his wife, Mary "Mari" Patterson, brother, Job "JC" Caldwell Patterson II and nephew, Richard Patterson.

Pat had several brown Labrador Retriever dogs in his life and loved each one.  When passing by the house, he would be in the back yard playing/chasing with the dogs. Labs have a tendency to bring home "gifts" so Pat was forever returning his neighbors items!

He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed working at Providence Canyon State Park outside of Lumpkin for many years.  He would assist with trail walks and keeping up the camp sites.  He was in and out of the office helping as needed. Pat enjoyed connecting with visitors.

A hobby Pat enjoyed was fishing, either alone or with family or friends.  When he returned home, they would fry up his catch.

When it came to politics, Pat was always ready to talk and discuss different opinions on past and current happenings.  He could debate with the best of them!  Pat was well educated and could talk about any point that was brought up.  When he was out and about town he would talk with visitors and encourage them to visit the county sites, Providence Canyon, Florence Marine Park and Westville.

Elvis Presley had a true fan in Pat.  He thoroughly enjoyed watching Elvis' movies and listening to his music on the television and radio.  Pat knew all the words to the songs and enjoyed singing with the radio when he was in the car.

A Celebration of Life Service was held to honor Pat's life on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at 3:00 PM, at the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel in Richland, Georgia, with the Reverend Dan Smith, officiating.
