Nellie Inez Thurmond Scott, 83, Richland, GA, died on January 2, 2012, at Four County Health and Rehab in Richland, GA.

Mrs. Scott was born in Terrell County on August 7, 1928, to the late Franklin Thurmond and Nellie Averitt.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Scott.

Mrs. Scott was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company as an operator and retired from the Stewart-Webster Gas Company in Richland.  She was a member of the Richland Methodist Church.

Mrs. Scott is survived by a son, William Benjamin (Ben) Scott (Stacey) of Dawson, GA., and a daughter, Terry S. Shropshire (Al) of Richland, GA, a sister, Jeanett Long of Americus, GA., and two grandchildren: Lindsey Shropshire of Richland, GA. and Canyon Scott of Dawson, GA.

Visitation with the family will be held at Baldwin Funeral Home, 50 Charles Overby Dr., Richland, GA., 31825, on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

A Graveside Service will be held at Cedarhill Cemetery, (Dawson Cemetery) Dawson, GA, on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at 2:00 PM, with the Reverend Stan Beleu officiating.
