Obituary

Mina Bloom Chesnut, age 76, died peacefully at her home in Lumpkin, Georgia on Monday, May 8, 2023. She was born on July 8 th , 1946, in Eufaula, Alabama to the late Helen Wood Bloom and Sigmund Bloom Sr. She graduated from Eufaula High School in 1964 and began her career as a medical assistant. Over the next 40 plus years, Mina worked for several healthcare facilities in Southwest Georgia. However, her passion was working with her close friends at Randolph Medical Associates in Cuthbert, Georgia.

Mina took a break from the healthcare industry while her two sons, Bill, and Joe, were in high school serving as the Secretary at Greenfield Academy. She was an avid fan of Greenfield and never missed a game home or away.

After her retirement in 2020, Mina enjoyed spending time with her friends in Lumpkin and her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking cakes for her friends and making flower arrangements for weddings in the community. In the fall, she could always be found with her best friend Mrs. Sandra Dunaway cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team. She was a devoted member of the Lumpkin United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William Jack Chesnut Sr. (Jacky).

She is survived by her two sons Bill (Sonia) Chesnut of Parrott, Georgia, and Joe (Robyn) Chesnut of Americus, Georgia. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Mary Margaret Braley (Sean Ray) of Wesson, Mississippi, Sarah Chesnut of Parrott, Georgia and Ansley and Jessie Chesnut of Americus, Georgia.
