Merrill James Geeslin, 73, passed away on December 30, 2021, at Columbus Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.  He was born on March 13, 1948, in Richland, Georgia, to the late James Geeslin and Bertha King Geeslin.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents.

Merrill is survived by his wife, Joanne Lynch Geeslin; his son, Seth Geeslin of Phenix City, Alabama.

Merrill grew up in Stewart County Georgia on the family county home property.  He attended Stewart County schools and graduated in 1967 from Stewart County High School in Lumpkin, Georgia.  He was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia.  He was an only child but grew up and remained close to his Geeslin and King first cousins, aunts and uncles.

Merrill and Joanne married and moved to Columbus 50 plus years ago.  He lived in Columbus but his heart and home was in his Stewart Country land.  He came back to the home place often and visited with his parents, hometown relatives and numerous friends.  His first job was in banking in Columbus but soon found his joy working in auto parts industry.  He first worked downtown at the large NAPA Store and later relocated to the new NAPA Store in north Columbus where, he was the Assistant Manager for more than 40 years before retiring.  After retiring he came often to Stewart County to visit his parents, relatives and friends.

A Church Service will be held on January 4, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at Lumpkin Baptist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia, the Reverend Raymond Smith and James Stubbs officiating, with a private burial. Due to COVID there will be no visitation.
