Melba Roberts Monkus' Obituary
Melba Roberts Monkus, 88, of Griffin, Georgia, died on Wednesday, December 23, 2014, at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Griffin, Georgia.
Melba was born in Webster County Georgia on February 9, 1926, to the late Jesse Roberts and Della Mae Cobb Roberts. She was married to the late Reverend Howard Raymon Monkus.
Melba is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband; one brother, Buddy Roberts; and two sisters, Evelyn Bramblett and Julia Johnston.
Melba went back to school and earned her Registered Nurses degree. She was employed as Director Nurse at Brightmoor Nursing Center in Griffin, Georgia.
Survivors include her son, Clayton and his wife Helen Monkus, of Matthews, North Carolina; three grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one sister, Louise Ranew of Leesburg, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends visited with the family at Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, Georgia, on Sunday, December 28, 2014, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM. The Chapel Service was held on Monday, December 29, 2014, at 11:00 AM, at the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel in Richland, Georgia.
