Marvin Harris, 85, of Preston, Georgia, died on April 6, 2015, in Plains, Georgia. He was born on January 10, 1930, in Webster County Georgia, to the late William H. Harris and Willie Lee Cooper Harris.

Marvin is preceded in death by both of his parents and a son, Cliff Harris.

Mr. Marvin was the owner/operator of Harris Nursery Plants until he began to have health issues. He was well-known throughout the state for his excellent plants. He sold plants to many large companies in Georgia and to local residents.

He is survived by two sons, Preston (Ellen) Harris of Plains, Georgia, Tony (Barbara) Harris of Phenix City, Alabama; two daughters, Kim (Mike) Shropshire of Preston, Georgia and Donna Rayburn of Richland, Georgia; three brothers, Bill Harris of Dawson, Georgia, Ben (Martha) Harris of Dawson, Georgia, Howard (Beverly) Harris of Vienna, Georgia; three sisters, Florence Blanton of Plains, Georgia, June Turner of Plains, Georgia, Virginia (Jerry) Roberts of Americus, Georgia; six grandchildren, Amber (Jessie) Drew, Chad (Haley) Harris, Skyler (Jamie) Shropshire, Patrick (Victoria) Harris, Katie (Jamie) McCook, Carlton (Blu) Rayburn; and five great grandchildren, Trevor Drew, Jade Shropshire, Layton Shropshire, Henley Harris, Bryce McCook.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Macedonia Baptist Cemetery, in Preston, Georgia. The Reverend Raymond Smith will conduct the service. Pallbearers serving are Mr. Marvin's Grandsons: Mike, Skylar, Jessie, Chad, Patrick, Jamie, Carlton (Blu)

In lieu of flowers: Donations may be made to the Plains Methodist Church or Macedonia Cemetery Fund, in care of Baldwin Funeral Home.
