Martha Sue House Harrison, 90, passed away at Parkwood Healthcare in Phenix City, Alabama, on March 20, 2024. Sue was born on January 6, 1934 in Lumpkin, Georgia, to the late Ed House and Willie Kate Cherry House.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Charles Harrison, and brother, Ed "Hot Dog" House.
Sue is survived by her son, Charles Edward (Kathy) Harrison of Smiths, Alabama and her daughter, Kathy Flatherty of Florida, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Sue was a lifetime member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church until the church merged with the Lumpkin United Methodist Church. She was a very faithful member of both churches even after her health kept her from attending in person.
She attended Perry Business College in Columbus Georgia after graduating from Lumpkin High School. She was a member of DAV Auxiliary, the Roanoke Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution and the Woodman of the World. She was a former Lumpkin City Council Member. Sue operated their business, House Dry Goods Store in Lumpkin, Georgia, until they closed the business. After retiring, Sue served as Librarian at the Lumpkin Library.
A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Lumpkin, Georgia, conducted by the Reverend Dan Smith.
