Lisha Denise Hunter Chesnut, 51, of Louvale, GA, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Columbus Hospice after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 3, 2012 at Omaha Baptist Church Cemetery Omaha, GA. The Reverend Larry Ready and the Reverend Larry Langford officiated. The family received family and friends Thursday evening, August 2, 2012 from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Baldwin Funeral Home, Richland, GA.
Lisha was born November 18, 1960 in Dawson, GA, daughter of the late Evelyn Rodgers and the late F. B. Hunter. Her family came to Richland when she was an infant and she remained there until her marriage to Gary P. Chesnut on July 7, 1979. She was baptized at Bland Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was employed by the U. S. Postal Service in Louvale for 29 years, serving as Post Mistress for ten of those years.
In addition to her husband, Gary P. Chesnut, Lisha is survived by her son, Christopher Phillip Chesnut. Lisha is also survived by her sisters, Teresa Nelson (William) of Richland, Brenda Greene (Randy) of Bealeton, Virginia, and brothers, Ronnie Hunter (Pat) of Tallahassee, Fl, Dale Rodgers (Mary Frances) of Richland and a brother-in-law James K. Chesnut Jr. of Dahlonega, GA.
Other than Lisha's parents she was preceded in death by her brother Mitch Hunter, her father and father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Kinard and Vera Folds Chesnut.
Active pallbearers were David Pate, Adam Pate, Justin Pate, Randy Folds, Grover Stone and Dale Rodgers. Gordon Smith, Joe Peek and William Nelson served as honorary pallbearers.
