Lisa Carol Renew Funderburke passed at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Georgia Monday, June 15, 2020 after a long illness.

She was born on June 19, 1964 in El Paso, Texas, to J. P. and Mary Lou Renew.  The family settled in Lumpkin in 1969 and it has been home to them since that year.  She graduated from Halley Turner School in 1980.

Lisa will be joyously welcomed into Heaven by her father, J. P. Renew, her brother, Larry Renew, her dear friend, Rex Pearce and her nephew, Colton Renew.

She is survived by: her mother, Mary Lou Turner Renew of Lumpkin, Georgia, two brothers, James Renew of Lumpkin, Georgia and Kevin (Debra) Renew of Lithia, Georgia; her son, Preston (Carrie) Funderburke of Lumpkin, Georgia; her step-sons, Rex (Katie) Pearce of Lumpkin, Georgia, Frankie (Ashley) Pearce of Lumpkin, Georgia, Jamie Pearce of Lumpkin, Georgia; and the loves of her life, her grandchildren, Ansley and Wyatt Funderburke and Trace Pearce.

Lisa was employed by Care Connect in Richland Georgia for 30 years.  She was also a lifelong member of the Lumpkin First Baptist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia.

Lisa was a loving and caring member of her community all of her life.  A friend to all, she was usually the first to volunteer for any task, and usually the last to leave.  She was a second mother to every child she came in contact with.

Lisa was diagnosed with a terrible illness two years ago.  There was no treatment or cure available.  She faced this illness with courage and determination to make the most of her life.  She never complained and faced every day with a smile.

Her family would like to thank all the members of our small community for the tremendous outpouring of love and compassion that you have showered on us during this difficult time.  Your love, prayers and offers of help will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at Northside Cemetery, with Reverend Raymond Smith officiating the service.  A Visitation Service will be held on Friday evening, June 19, 2020, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home.  Social distancing is still the practice being used.

Food may be taken to Preston and Carrie Funderburke's home in Lumpkin, Georgia.
