Jenkins
December 11, 1950 – August 7, 2013
Linda Jenkins went home to be with the Lord on August 7, 2013. She was born in Birmingham, AL, to the late Walter Herschel Huguley and Thelma Underwood Huguley. She graduated from Cusseta High School as Salutatorian with the class of 1968.
She graduated from Columbus State University with both a BS and Master's Degree in Education. She taught at Eastway Elementary for 30 years and was active in professional associations and held office in several such as: MEA, GREA, CCTM, and Phi Delta Kappa. She was often a speaker for GCTM at Rock Eagle and was published in a short article in Arithmetic Teacher. She was a Southern Association of Colleges and Schools evaluator for several county school systems. After her retirement she taught several quarters for CVCC in Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Jenkins was very active in the churches that she attended serving as a member of the finance committee, Sunday School Secretary, and VBS coordinator. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Smith Station, AL. She was active with Little League Baseball having served at both Sally Little League and as Assistant District administrator of Georgia District 8 for 16 years.
Mrs. Jenkins leaves behind her beloved husband of 41 years, Charles W. Jenkins, Sr; two sons, Charles W. Jenkins, Jr., wife, Shelley Smith Jenkins of Columbus, GA, and Reverend Jonathan Samuel Jenkins, wife, Paige Womac Jenkins of Preston, GA; a brother Dr. Walter Hubert Huguley, wife, Julie of Birmingham, AL. She has three grandchildren Diana Leigh Jenkins, Charles Wesley Jenkins III, and David Samuel Jenkins; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Baldwin Funeral Home, 50 Charles Overby Dr, Richland, GA, on Sunday, August 11, 2013, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Services will be held at Mount Carmel Baptist of Buena Vista, GA, on Monday, August 12, at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Uddell Addison presiding. Burial will follow at the Preston City Cemetery in Preston, GA.
Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers a donation to the Columbus Hospice or Fellowship Baptist Church in her memory. Checks may be completed and mailed to Baldwin Funeral Home, P. O. Box 394, Richland, GA 31825.
Baldwin Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
