Johnie Frank Giles, 84, of Lumpkin, Georgia, died on April 4, 2016, at Four County Health & Rehab in Richland, Georgia. He was born on December 9, 1931, in Clay County Georgia, to the late Lester W. Giles and Emma Snipes Giles.
Johnie is preceded in death by both of his parents; one daughter, Carol Ruth Giles Henry; three brothers, Wade Giles, Walter Giles, Charles Giles; one sister, Laura Eslin Giles Pearman.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Swords Giles; his daughter, Anita G. Usher of Richland, Georgia; five grandchildren, Perry Travis "Chip" Usher, John Talin Usher, Laura Ann Pearman Fernwalt, Greg (Tracey) Pearman, James (Melanie) Pearman; seven great- grandchildren, Perry Usher, Kayla Usher, Kale Usher, Gracie Anne Usher, Dillon Pearman, Landon Pearman, Bentley Pearman; and two sisters, Mary Nell Bell of Cairo, Georgia, Annie Ruth Champion of Atlanta, Georgia.
Johnie grow up in Clay County Georgia. He served in the United States Air Force for four years and was a Staff Sargent. He earned his PhD. in Religion. He was certified in small planes and was a crop duster.
Johnie was the former Pastor of the Creekside Baptist Church in Dowagiac, Michigan.
In Johnie's spare time he enjoyed farming on a small level with his garden. He enjoyed growing vegetables and sharing with his neighbors and friends.
A Visitation Service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, Georgia.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at the Arlington Cemetery in Arlington, Georgia. The service will be conducted by the Reverends' Dennis McChargue and Raymond Smith.
