Obituary

Joanne Lynch Geeslin, 71, passed away at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, Georgia, on May 21, 2022, with her family around her. She was born on January 28, 1951, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to Carolyn Turner Lynch and the late George C. Lynch, Sr.

Joanne is preceded in death by her father, her husband, Merrill Geeslin, her brother, George C. Lynch, Jr.

Survivors include her son, Seth Geeslin; her mother, Carolyn Lynch;  niece, Velvet (Rick) Scoggins; nephew, Chad (Mitzi) Lynch; great nieces, Gracie Linde and Hannah Jo Scoggins; great nephew, Billy Scoggins; many cousins and numerous friends.

Joanne excelled in everything that she did. She had a very successful career at the Dolly Madison Company, in Columbus, Georgia, where she worked for over 30 years.

Joanne was an extremely creative and talented person. Some of her favorite things were cooking and entertaining, decorating, sewing, reading, sitting in the sun and swinging on her back porch. Cookbooks were her favorite - she was always trying a new scrumptious recipe which she shared with others.

Joanne loved and cared deeply for her family, friends and neighbors. She was always the first to offer help and did so not out of obligation but because that's who she was. Her home was always an immensely welcoming place that was beautifully decorated for every season. Christmas was a treasured time for her and she spent many hours making most of the ornaments placed on each tree in her house.

She forever touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She exuded love and sunshine. Her son Seth, was the apple of her eye and she especially enjoyed her role as Aunt Jo. Her influence on others will be seen for many years to come. Joanne's zest for life and ability to bring joy to others will forever be cherished by all that knew her.

A Church Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at the Lumpkin Baptist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia, with the Reverends' Raymond Smith and Jimmy Stubbs officiating the service. Pianist Vickie Harville will play several of Joanne's favorite songs during the service.
