Joann Smith Galloway, 72, of Cusseta, passed away at home on Friday, April 27, 2012.

Joann was born September 19, 1939 in Chattahoochee County, GA, to the late John Elby Smith, Jr. and the late Eva Underwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. E. Smith, Jr. and Eva U. Smith, and two brothers, Sonny Smith and Charlie Smith.

Mrs. Galloway is survived by her husband, James T. (Buddy) Galloway of Cusseta, GA; two daughters, Terri (Jim) Galloway Candlin of Columbus, GA. and Laurie (Thomas) Galloway James of Woodstock, GA; four grandchildren, Evan Candlin, Rebecca James, Nathan James, Sam Grayson James;  a sister, Carolyn Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Joann was employed by the Medical Center, Columbus, GA, as the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Surgery.  She had served as Clerk of Superior Court in Chattahoochee County, GA.  She was a life member of the First Baptist Church of Cusseta in Cusseta, GA.

Visitation with the family will be Sunday, April 30, 2012, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, GA.  Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cusseta, Cusseta, GA, on Monday, April 30, 2012, at 11:00 AM, with interment at Harmony Cemetery in Richland, GA.  Officiating will be the Reverend Mark Hudson.

Madeline Lumby and Frankie Bowden will sing several musical selections.

Pallbearers: Ben Smith, Mel Smith, Ken Smith, Steven Smith, David Smith, Brandon Galloway, Wesley Jenkins and Jonathon Jenkins

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cusseta or the American Cancer, Cusseta, GA.
