James  Edward Huckaby, Jr., 61, died October 9, 2011, at his home in Richland, Ga.

Mr. Huckaby was born in Columbus Georgia on January 12, 1950.  His parents were the late James Edward Lamar Huckaby, Sr. and Sara Nell Avrett.  Mr. Huckaby worked as a mechanic at Ledford's Tractor and Automotive Repair for many years.  From 1984 - 1995, he drove a propane truck for Ferrell Gas Company and was known locally as "The Gas Man".  Mr. Huckaby was a veteran of the Georgia National Guard.

Mr. Huckaby was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jane Huckaby Ledford.

Mr. Huckaby is survived by a son, Michael Keith (Randa) Huckaby, and three daughters, Jennifer L. Clayton, Michelle Denise Huckaby, Rebecca Ann Huckaby; a sister, Marie Huckaby Cochran Roberts, and a brother-in-law, John F. Weagle.       He had four grandchildren, Riley Huckaby, John Ferry, Joe Ferry, Trinity Shepherd; two nieces, Denise Ledford Otto, Jessica M. Hunter; two nephews, Jimmie Earl Cochran, Jr., Larry Michael Ledford; and four great nieces and five great nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to honor the memory of James Edward Huckaby, Jr.
