George Anthony Thorne's Obituary
George Anthony Thorne, 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning, December 5, 2016, at his home in Columbus, Georgia. He was born August 13, 1950 in Early County Georgia to the late Willie Maxwell "Max" Thorne and Gladys Milner Thorne.
George is preceded in death by both his parents.
Survivors include his two sons, Bradley "Brad" Thorne of Columbus, Georgia, Max Thorne of Athens, Georgia; five sisters, Terry French of Columbus, Georgia, Linda Morrison of Columbus, Georgia, Christine Norton of Columbus, Georgia, Maxine Bailey of Hamilton, Georgia, Bobbie (Tom) Fort of Delaware; one granddaughter, Caroline Thorne; and many nieces and nephews.
George was a self-employed contractor. He attended Stewart County High School in Lumpkin Georgia. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, Journalism School.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
