Obituary

Elsie Elizabeth Monkus Flavin, 88, of Cusseta, Georgia, died on November 19, 2020, at the Piedmont Midtown Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Elizabeth was born on January 20, 1932, in Webster County Georgia, to the late Zack Monkus and Louise Woody Monkus.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by both of her parents and a sister, Mary Summerford.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Flavin of Cusseta, Georgia; four daughters, Sandra (Steve) Jones of Smith Station, Alabama, Joanie Smith of Cusseta, Georgia, Tracy (Ty) Niblack of Columbus, Georgia, Lisa (Mario) Tenorio of Crestview, Florida; two brothers, Billy (Betty Jo) Monkus of Preston, Georgia, Morris (Annette) Monkus of Preston, Georgia; two sisters, Hilda Morris of Columbus, Georgia, Betty Murphy of Columbus, Georgia, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Puff, as Elizabeth was called by her family and friends, had many loves: first and foremost was her husband Kenneth and her family; her numerous friends and her Cusseta United Methodist Church family, where she attended. Puff enjoyed going to the beach in Panama City, she loved to cook and go out to eat and she loved her animals. Puff enjoyed shopping whether it was in the stores or on QVC. When she listened to music, she enjoyed listening to her favorite singers, Elvis and Loretta Lynn.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday morning, November 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Centerpoint. The Reverend Morris Monkus will officiate the service. The family will visit with friends after the service.
