Elizabeth Anne Whitley Atwell, 60, died on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her home in Webster County Georgia. She was born March 6, 1954, in Harris County Georgia, to Phillip Whitley and Virginia Barnes Whitley.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Johnny Whitley.
Survivors include her husband, Emory Atwell of Richland, GA; one daughter, Stephanie Sweeny of Valley, AL, two step-daughters, Wendy (Rick) Farr of Greer, SC and Audrey Henry (Mike) Atwell of Corsicana, TX; one brother, Phillip Whitley of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Elizabeth was a retired school teacher from Georgetown Elementary School in Columbus, GA. She and Emory had lived in Stewart County GA prior to moving to Webster County GA four years ago.
Elizabeth and Emory were members of a motorcycle group, Patriot Guard Riders (PGR), that escort and honor fallen soldiers, law enforcement officers and firefighters. Elizabeth was a past Flag Wagon Attendant since 2006.
