Obituary

Elaine Orr Youngblood, 78, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at her home in Columbus, Georgia.

Elaine was born on August 15, 1947, in Americus, Georgia, to the late Donald E. Orr and Mary Raenew Orr.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her son, Randy Lee; brother, Douglas Orr, sister-in-law Judy Orr; and two nephews, Phillip Orr and Don Orr.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jack Youngblood of Columbus, Georgia; daughter, Cindy (Tommy) Marsh of Columbus, Georgia; step-children, David (Donna) Youngblood and Donna Manning; her brother, Robert (Sherrie) Orr of Richland, Georgia; nephews, David (Cindy) Orr, Chuck Orr and three grandchildren, Matt Marsh, Sophie (Harrison) Brown and Austin Lee.

Elaine was raised in Richland, Georgia. She started the first grade in 1954 at Richland Elementary School and went through the 11th grade. She graduated from Stewart County High School in Lumpkin in 1965. She did not like having to finish high school in Lumpkin! Elaine enjoyed being a cheerleader in the 10th and 11th grades. For one year she attended Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Georgia, then moved to Columbus, Georgia, where she was employed by Regal Jewelry.

Elaine retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield in Columbus, Georgia, after 30 years.

Elaine was a very sweet person whose sweet laugh was infectious. She loved her family with her whole heart. Elaine fought a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma for over three years. Being a very devoted Braves fan, she watched as many games as she could. Elaine especially loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs football games as her granddaughter Sophie, was a member of the Georgette Dance Team.

Elaine loved songs by George Strait and pop singers such as the Stylistics and 60’s through 80’s music.

Robert and Elaine, believing in Christ Jesus, were baptized in about 1961 at Richland Baptist Church when Brother Maverty was the pastor.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Harmony Cemetery, in Richland, Georgia, with family visiting with friends after the service. Robert Orr will conduct the service.
