Obituary

Edwin LeRoy Smith, 75, was born in Eden, Idaho on July 10, 1938, to Everett Smith and Irene Conrad Smith.

Edwin was married to Kathleen Smith. He served in the United States Army from March 1964 and then reenlisted in October 1975. He retired in January 1986. He worked in the construction/concrete business in Colorado Springs, Colorado, as a truck driver for Goodwill and for Smith Construction Company.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Smith of Lumpkin, Georgia; two daughters, Mary Kay Wodyga, husband Paul, of LaGrange, Georgia and Debbie Irene Sanders, husband Phillip, of Ludowici, Georgia; one brother, Robert Smith of Caldwell, Idaho; two sisters, Denise Hamn of Idaho, Jan Vielguth of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday morning, May 8, 2014, 10:00 AM, at the Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, Georgia. The Reverend Chris Hess will officiate, with Chaplain Mark Chandler assisting.

The United States of America Flag will be presented to his wife Kathleen, with the Army's sincere thanks for the loyal service that Edwin rendered to the US. Taps and a 21 gun salute will be given in honor of Mr. Smith's service.
