Dorris "Dot" M. Gilchrist Grimes, 85, died on June 28, 2015, at the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. She was born on May 9, 1930 in Junction City Georgia, to the late James M. Gilchrist and Helen Dorris Clark Gilchrist.
Dorris was preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Allford Grimes; four brothers, James E. Gilchrist, William Clark Gilchrist, Henry Davis Gilchrist, Gary M. Gilchrist; and three sisters, Ann Bass, Betty Pybus, Margaret Parker Pybus.
She is survived by her son, Stoney Grimes of Woodbridge, Virginia, her daughter, Tina (Jim) Lynch of Sunnyvale, California; one grandchild, Sean Lynch; a brother, Robert Gilchrist of Villa Rica, Georgia; a sister, Patsy (Ron) Allison of Seale, Alabama; and numerous nephews and niece.
Prior to moving back to Omaha in 1972, Dot and her husband Allford lived in Anchorage, Alaska. Dot was an Army wife and their family had been stationed in several locations. She was a member of the Omaha Baptist Church. Dot was a caring and loving wife and mother.
A Visitation Service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015, from 7:00 – 8:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home, Richland, Georgia. The Chapel Service will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Omaha Cemetery, in Omaha, Georgia.
