Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" White Richardson, 90, passed away on October 5, 2020 with her loved ones by her side.  Dot was born on March 9, 1930, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late James G. White and May Williams White.

After finishing high school, Dot graduated from business school.  After she and Bobby Richardson were married, they settled in Lumpkin and joined the Lumpkin United Methodist Church.  On Sunday morning you would always find Dot in her pew and ready for the service and to visit with friends.  Dot attended church regularly until she moved to be closer to her daughter Elaine.

Dot was very active in our community.  She and her husband, Bobby, owned the Richardson's Store for many years and took care of all the needs for their customers.  After the store closed Dot started her second career as Clerk of Court in Stewart County and served in this position until her second retirement.

Many young people referred to Mrs. Dot was their second mother.  She loved and enjoyed having children and young people visiting in their home.  She always attended local events that her children participated in and she would assisted when needed. Mrs. Dot was a very social person and loved to be out in the community. She will always be remembered for her sweet smile and happy laugh!

Dot was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Robert C. (Bobby) Richardson, Sr., her daughter, Ellen Richardson Kavelman and her son, Robert C. (Bob) Richardson, Jr.

Mrs. Dot is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Tom) Holloway of Gulf Shores, Alabama; her grandchildren,  Chris (Jennifer) Montfort of Woodstock, Georgia, Bob (Heather) Williams of Bethlehem, Georgia, Robin (Brandy) Temples of Breman, Georgia, Brian Richardson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jean Jordan of Columbus, Georgia, Jeff Robinson of Carrollton, Georgia, Clifford Robinson of Carrollton, Georgia; and 15 great grandchildren.

Family memories of Dot:  "ice cream lady" she would always bring some type of crazy ice cream treat when she visited; driving around on the golf cart at her house and leaving corn out for the deer; watching the hummingbirds on the feeders; always getting so excited to play in her giant Christmas village; she drew pictures of Kennedy and Chris and the pictures were well loved; big family parties at her house; fishing with Dot and Granddaddy on the lake; spontaneous adventures to go see the leaves; Disney adventures where she always kept up; she would buy a whole roll of lottery scratchers at Christmas hoping someone would win big; she always wanted to be first in line to get her hair done; making cheese straws, strawberry shortcake, and Lady Baltimore cakes; curfew broken by Elaine with Jimmy Babb; had all the kids pile into the car and driving down the hill, she always had room for everyone.
