Donice Massey Burks, "Little Mama", 92 of Weston, Georgia, passed away on January 15, 2016, at her home in Weston, Georgia. She was born on May 29, 1923, in Weston, Georgia, to the late Thomas Oscar Massey and Mary Slocumb Massey.

Donice was retired from being a para pro at the Webster County Elementary School in Preston, Georgia.

Donice and her family lived in the Weston area for her entire life. Donice and Thomas Burks married on July 10, 1941. The couple made their home in Weston, Georgia. They had been married for 62 years at the time of his death, March 25, 2004. Donice was a Methodist by faith.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband, Thomas Burks; and five brothers.

She is survived by her four sons, Tommy Burks of Albany, Georgia, Wayne (Patricia) Burks of Weston, Georgia, Bill (Lynn Brown) Burks of Richland, Georgia Reggie (Janet) Burks of Preston, Georgia; two daughters, Wree Burks of Weston, Georgia, Donna Maxwell of Dallas, Georgia; eight grandchildren, Ron (Kimmi) Burks of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Lynn Smith of Columbus, Georgia, Durwood (Rosemary) Burks of Colombia, Tennessee, Matthew Burks of Preston, Georgia, Wendy (Jeremy) Law of Plains, Georgia, Stetson (Hayleigh Hale) Burks of Richland, Georgia, Todd (Sara Craven) Maxwell of Tallahassee, Florida, Leslie Maxwell of Ft. Worth, Texas; two great grandchildren, Sarah Smith of Columbus, Georgia, Lucy Burks of Colombia, Tennessee; first cousin, Clayton Ammons of Hogansville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation Service was held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, at Baldwin Funeral Home, 50 Overby Dr., Richland, Georgia.

A Graveside Service was held on Sunday, January 17, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at Turkey Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Webster County, Georgia. The Reverend Willis Wallace conducted the service.

In lieu of flowers: Donations may be made to Georgia Baptist Children's Home or Georgia Sheriff's Youth Ranch. Donations may be mailed to Baldwin Funeral Home at the address below.
