Dolores Janet Hardesty Harris, 87, of Lumpkin, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Dolores was born March 5, 1939 in Cuba, Missouri to Edwin and Ruth Hardesty.
Lovingly known as Nana to her family and friends, she graduated from Columbus College in Music Education. She went on to teach music at Stewart County and Randolph County schools. After 30 years of teaching, she retired and opened Nana’s Nook with her daughter, offering their love of antiques and gifts to the community for 15 years.
Dolores served as choir director of the Lumpkin United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Camerata Club in Eufaula, Alabama and the Stewart County Historical Commission for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jack D. Harris, her children, Gina (Randy) Mathis, and Shaun (Amie) Harris, grandchildren, Lindsey (Yates) Chathrall, Heather (Chase) Gibson and Leslie (Trey) Goree, great-grandchildren, Katie Hutto, Kindon Cathrall and Saylor Gibson.
Visitation with the family will be held at the Lumpkin United Methodist Church, September 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the church fellowship hall.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Lumpkin United Methodist Church with burial following at Lumpkin Northside Cemetery.
