Obituary

On February 7, 2025, Clifford Alexander "Alex" Lunsford, Jr., passed peacefully at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.  He was born in Richland, Georgia, on October 25, 1943, to the late Clifford "Doc" Alexander Lunsford, Sr. and Elva Mills Lunsford.

Alex lived his entire life in Stewart County, in both in Omaha and Richland.   Everyone knew Alex!  In his later years, friends would stop by and visit on the porch and swing. Alex loved to visit with friends, talking about anything from hunting to different types of trees, to use in his creations, to farming and his large extended family.  Nothing made him happier than to have his house full of all with his children, grands and great grands. Alex truly loved the Lord, his church and his family.

Alex had a special place in his heart for the dogs that he owned over the years.  Each dog touched his heart in different ways, some were porch dogs and many enjoyed just riding around the farm with him. Alex found his quiet place when he was out on the land.

His passion was the outdoors, hunting, fishing and land conservation.  He enjoyed taking care of his land and overseeing it for the future generations.  Alex received great pleasure driving around his farm and check on the progress of his crops, the animals and trees.

As many people knew, Alex was a master wood crafter.  Alex was extremely gifted and could make anything he set his mind to, from picture frames, to cabinets to display items, to hutches, to full furniture pieces.  He learned to choose the wood carefully so it would "fit" the items he was going to build.

Alex is preceded in death by both of his parents and his sister, Marie Lunsford Mayo.

Surviving family members are:  Janie O'Connor Lunsford; son, Clifford  "Cliff"  Alexander (Sujette) Lunsford, III,  daughter, Beverly Lunsford (Jeff) Scarborough; eight grandchildren, Miah, Joshua and Alex Lunsford, Hallie Rose (Josh) Letlow, Lexie (Ryan) Finley, Layne Fulghum, Cody (Kyndal) Scarborough, Kirstie (Brandon) Tarleton; and three great grandchildren, Madi Layne "Doodle" Finley, Emma K., Jett, Callen Tarleton and Ford Scarborough.

The family invited friends to visit their home on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.  Food was taken to Anna Laura Barrett's home.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
