Obituary

Cindy Elaine Baldwin Jones, 57, of Lumpkin, died Monday, November 20, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, November 22nd, 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Baldwin Funeral Home in Richland, Georgia.

Cindy was born June 21, 1960 in Cuthbert, Georgia, to the late Ras and Martha Halliday Baldwin of Lumpkin, Georgia.

Cindy, as with all the Baldwin children, grew up in 4-H. She was working in her teenage years at Bedingfield Inn, Westville, then after graduating from high school and college, she worked for Farmers State Bank for many years and finally at DFCS. After Cindy starting having health issues, she had to retire from her job.

Cindy had a special calling for children, animals and the elderly. She had a passion for gardening and worked tirelessly in her yard, especially her beautiful rose garden. Cindy was a fabulous cook and she loved to share her delicious creations and recipes with family and friends. Cindy could eat a food dish and tell you what each item was in the recipe. She was loving and generous to a fault, sharing with others at times at the expense of her own self. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and got the most pleasure from a good laugh or from pulling a prank. Cindy loved life, her family, and her many friends with all her heart.

In 1980 Cindy married the love of her life, Bill Jones, who preceded her in death in 2013. Cindy's and Bill's great achievement in life was being good parents, and they lived their lives setting a fine example for their two beautiful children, Terrell and Hallie.

Cindy was preceded in death by both of her parents, her loving and supportive husband, Bill Jones, and her oldest sister, Beth Baldwin Austin.

She is survived by her son, Terrell (Casey) William Jones, Sr., of Lumpkin, Georgia and her daughter, Halliday "Hallie" Elizabeth Jones (Mac) Lane of Lumpkin and Omaha; one grandson, Terrell W."TJ" Jones, Jr., one sister, Carolyn Baldwin (Michael) Crase of Columbus, Georgia, her brother, Charles Lewis (Sally) Baldwin, of Richland, Georgia; seven nephews, Keith (Marion) Austin of Norway; , Allen Baldwin of Lumpkin, Georgia; Eric (Jessica) Baldwin of Richland, Georgia; Kyle (Joanie) Welch of Mauk, Georgia; Josh (Jami) Welch of Americus, Georgia; two great nephews, Erron (Cassie) Austin of Americus, Georgia, Tyler Austin, one niece, Jordan Wells of Lumpkin, Georgia; two great-great nephews, Jace Welch and Wyatt Austin; two great-great nieces, Anna Leigh Welch and Emma Louise Welch; Mother-in-law, Betty Williams Brooks (Dewey) of Lumpkin, Georgia and sister-in-law, Sandi Jones Evans of Bethlehem.

A Celebration Service will be held on November 22, 2017, at 3:00 PM, Baldwin Funeral Home Chapel, in Richland, Georgia. The family will visit with family and friends before the service. The Reverend Dan Smith will conduct the service.

Cindy was laid to rest beside her Bill Jones, during a private service on Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017. Cindy and Bill loved their land, whether walking through the back yard, watching the dogs play, taking care of the catfish pond or tending to Cindy's vegetable gardens and roses.

Children seem to gravitate to Cindy. Cindy definitely helped raise more than her two children, she enjoyed being a second mother to many children and young adults. Cindy's skills even went to doctoring on animals if needed.

Cindy never let her illness stop her from helping people in need. She was always there bringing food and giving moral support. Cindy loved working in her yard, especially with her roses. Cindy would work to get the yard just right. Cindy especially enjoyed the "pond" in the yard. Feeding the fish and watching them grow was a treat she enjoyed showing the children.

When Cindy was going through treatments she would push herself through each session because she had events planned ahead. She had Hallie's wedding and events to focus on, then Terrell's wedding and events and finally the biggest surprise, Baby Terrell, her grandbaby was on his way. God knew Cindy's time was getting short so Baby Terrell arrived earlier than expected, giving Cindy time to love and talk with him. Cindy would light up when she was able to spend time with the baby.

Cindy is finally at peace and her health is fully restored. Cindy would not want people to mourn her life but to celebrate her homecoming with Bill, her mother and father, along with all her family, friends and animals that went before her.

Cindy and Bill wanted their lives to be celebrated at their deaths, a time of uplifting for their family and friends. There are plenty of Cindy and Bill Jones stories to keep you laughing, between things that Cindy said, Bill Jones said or did, and the stories of Terrell and Hallie (Ha Ha) growing up, you can remember they enjoyed life. When Cindy reached Heaven on Monday morning she had the biggest smile on her face looking down on each of you and saying a prayer for your family. We all were graced by God to be allowed to have Cindy in our lives even for this short period of time.
