Obituary

Charles Cox Miller, Jr., 85, died Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Four County Health and Rehab in Richland, Georgia, following a stay at Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Georgia.

Charles was born on June 10, 1932, in Plains, Georgia, to the late Charles Cox Miller, Sr., and Gwendolyn Marie Moore Miller.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, and his two brothers, Ray Moore Miller and Ben Joseph Miller.

Charles graduated from Richland High School in Richland, Georgia in 1949 and then from Riverside Military High School in Gainesville, Georgia. He was a 1954 Business Graduate of the University of Georgia, in Athens, Georgia. Charles served in the United States of America Air Force.

Charles enjoyed tending to the cattle, his land, business and being with his family. Charles started his company, The Miller Company, in Richland and had several apartment complexes in Albany, Georgia. He enjoyed working with his dog by his side. He was a member of Richland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his six children, ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Cindy (Steve) Tiernan of Albany, Georgia and their three children, Joe (Diana) Tiernan and Laura (Joseph) Smutz and Jack Tiernan; Charles Miller, III of Panama City Beach, Florida; Cliff (Alee) Miller and their child, Victoria Reid (Aubrey) Smith, and a great-grandchild, Kerry Smith; Carter (Cindy) Miller and their two children, Abbie Miller and stepson Kyle; Craig (Angel, deceased) Miller of Richland, Georgia, their two children, Shelby (Stanton) Wills, a great-grandchild, Coogan Wills and Brantley (Todd) Beaver; Carole Lea Gilman of Panama City Beach, Florida and two grandchildren, Bailey Gilman and Maitland Gilman; and Carole B. Miller, the mother of their six children.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Harmony Cemetery, Richland, Georgia. Mike McGlaun will conduct the service. The family will visit with family and friends at the cemetery following the service
