Obituary

Charles "Red" Marion Geeslin, 89, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2020 at Perfect Care in Americus, Georgia.  He was born on October 1, 1930, in Stewart County, Georgia to the late James E. Geeslin and Eva Mae Brown Geeslin.

Red was retired from the United States Civil Service, working at at Ft. Benning, Georgia as the Manager of the Supply Division.  Red was a man of the community.  He lived his whole life in Stewart County except when he served his country in the United States Airforce.  He was very proud to have been a veteran.  No matter what he did or where he went he well represented Stewart County.

Red had a great love of people.  He and Lovette Geeslin were always the first people in the stands or bleachers to watch a game.  He continued this practice until he was no longer physically able to attend events.  If you read the posts on Facebook about Red, you saw the age span that gave tributes about him. Below are just a few:

Without a doubt one of the most caring, giving and loving men on Earth! The small things he taught me early in life I deemed just that, Small. But as you mature those small things were actually some of life's biggest lessons! The biggest lessons that I carry with me to this very day are: always, always give more than you receive and be a better person tomorrow than you were today!! He not only preached that but he exemplified that every day of his life!

Red and Mr Lovette never missed a Greenfield ballgame, then when the school closed, they attended our Randolph Southern games!!

From many moons ago, he used to go to lots of our tournament softball games.

He taught me to drive his John Deere and his trucks. He went with me to all my father-son events at school. Mama would have him come talk to me if I needed it. He always had a fast Chevy and he left it on the square for me to take my driving test.

To really see Red happy and excited, you just had to watch him dance, he loved being out on the dance floor.

Charles Marion Geeslin is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and his best friend, Mike Rushing.  When Mike's father was living, he and Red were best friends with Mike growing up with Red's home being his second home.
