Carolyn Drew
Anglin
August 16, 1929 – October 26, 2021
Carolyn Drew Anglin, 92, passed away at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, shortly after her dear friend, Mildred Gunnels. She was born on August 16, 1929, in Richland, Georgia, to the late Perry Drew and Eva Tomlin Drew.
Carolyn is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Byron Anglin and three brothers, Billy Drew, R. E. Drew and Perry Drew, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Anglin, her granddaughter, Mareshah Anglin, great granddaughter, Penelope Rose Anglin, special nieces, Ellen Daniel Rice, Debbie Bartlett Daniel, nieces, nephews, cousins and a huge number of friends.
As with most from her generation, Carolyn loved family, friends, church, community and country. She did all that she could to support them with her heart, mind and spirit.
The family lived in Northern Virginia when their daughter was growing up, with Byron worked in Washington, D.C. As soon as Bryon was able to retire, he and Carolyn came "home" to Richland. It was always their goal to return. Once settled back "home", Carolyn became a Sunday School teacher, a substitute teacher, and a librarian. She went to college for a season where she excelled. Carolyn served as the Librarian of the Richland Chattahoochee Regional Library Branch out of Columbus, Georgia. While working at the library, she mentored many children, not just with reading but also with any issues they were having in life. Many of the patrons came to the library to not only check out books but to visit with Carolyn. An intelligent and independent thinker, she could connect with any age group.
Carolyn was a special friend to all children. Her home is filled with pictures of children she knew, treating them all like her own. Carolyn cared deeply for her mother and her aunts. One of her favorite things was to gather them up for shopping excursions, eating out and visits to the nursing home.
The guiding force in her life was her faith. She spent much of her time reading and studying - but most of all practicing her faith. Carolyn had words of wisdom and encouragement for all who knew her. In her later years many family members, friends and neighbors cared for her. Heartfelt thanks to you all. In every conversation, she mentioned each person who had been there for her by name. She always said "people are so good to me". She was grateful and so is Carol, her daughter.
