Carole Barnett Miller, 84, passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, June 17, 2018, at home surrounded by her family.
Carole was born in Baltimore MD, April 2, 1934, to her late parents Robert Maitland Barnett and Helen Cecelia Barnett.
Carole is preceded in death by both her parents, her husband of 50 years Charles Cox Miller Jr., her brother Dr. Robert M. Barnett and sister in law Effie of Baltimore MD, her daughter-in-law, Angel Babb Miller; and her 28 year old cat, Sam.
Carole graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in Savannah, GA in 1953. She attended the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA until she married in 1957.
Carole devoted her life to taking care of her six children and working in the family businesses. She enjoyed her time at home tending to her yard, flowers and garden. She loved drawing with pen and ink and painting with watercolors. She was a member of the art association in Columbus, GA, and in Highland, NC for many years. She loved sailing the Bahamas, flying, scuba diving and spending time at the family's vacation homes in Ludlow, VT, Highlands, NC, and Panama City Beach, FL. She was a member of the Richland Baptist Church in Richland, GA.
She is survived by her six children; Cindy (Steve) Tiernan of Albany, GA and their three children, Joe (Diana) Tiernan and Laura (Joseph) Smutz and Jack Tiernan; Charlie Miller of Panama City Beach, FL; Cliff (Alee) Miller of Cuthbert, GA and their child, Victoria Reid (Aubrey) Smith, and a great-grandchild, Kerry Smith; Carter (Cindy) Miller of Albany, GA and their two children, Abbie Miller and stepson Kyle; Craig Miller of Richland, GA, his two children, Shelby (Stanton) Wills, a great-grandchild, Coogan Wills and Brantley (Todd) Beaver; Carole Lea Gilman of Panama City Beach, FL her two children, Bailey Gilman and Maitland Gilman. Cousins; Barbara Kledzik of Virgina Beach, VA and Danny Coogan of Norfolk, VA. Nephews; Dr. Michael R. Barnett(Cindy) of Finksburg, MD and George Barnett(Dannette) of Bellaire, PA. Best friends; Mary Leighty of Columbus, GA and Judy King of Destin, FL.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Panama City, Florida. Friends are also invited to the home of Carole Lea Gilman after the visitation.
A service will be held the following day on Friday, June 22, 2018, at 10:00 AM in the chapel at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Her ashes will be spread at one of her favorite places.

Carole Lea and I would like to personally thank the entire staff at Emerald Coast Hospice for helping us take care of Mom and for helping us make this final journey with her at home where she wanted to be. A special thanks to, an angel sent to us, Toni Campbell for caring for Mom with such dignity and just being a friend to us when we needed her the most.
