Brooks "Buck" Johnston Mathis, Jr.'s Obituary
Brooks Johnston Mathis, Jr., "Buck", 84, died May 27, 2014, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA. He was born in Stewart County Georgia on March 14, 1930, to Brooks Johnston Mathis, Sr. and Hazel Martin Mathis.
Mr. Buck served in the United States Air Force. After leaving the Air Force he worked for the Georgia Department of Agriculture as an Inspector. He was a member of the Lumpkin United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his brother, Clark Mathis and his beloved grandson, Brooks Mathis.
Survivors include his two sons, Joe (Toni) Mathis of Cusseta, GA. and Julian Mathis of Lumpkin, GA; and one sister, Grace Camp of Weston, GA.
A Visitation Service will be held on May 29, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Baldwin Funeral Home 50 Charles Overby Dr., Richland, GA 31825.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014, at 2:00 PM, Northside Cemetery in Lumpkin, GA. The Reverend Mark Hudson officiating the service.
Pallbearers serving: Frankie Shirling, Bill House, Randy Mathis, Kasey Stanton, Robb Lane, Jesse Murrah
