Dr. Bonnie Jeanne Williams Hearon, 70, died on March 20, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. She was born on August 22, 1945, in Oak Park, Illinois, to the late Thomas Robert Williams and Jeannette Whitten Williams of Oak Park, Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) Hearon of Lumpkin, Georgia, her four daughters, Laura (Robert) Laurent of New Orleans, Louisiana, Barbara (Kemp) Amason of Atlanta, Georgia, Charlotte Hearon of New Orleans, Louisiana and Natalie Hearon of Atlanta, Georgia, and two brothers, Tom (Cheryl) Williams of Denver, Colorado, Don (Nancy) Williams of Salinas, California.
Bonnie spent her early years in Bismarck, North Dakota, Oak Park, Illinois, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dallas, Texas. Mr. Williams was a veteran of WWII and served in the United States of America Navy.
Bonnie attended Trinity University in San Antonio and after a few years transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, where she graduated with highest honors with a five year degree in Pharmacy. She accepted a position with Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. She and Bill met and married in December 1968. Their family started while in Dallas, shortly after they moved to Saint Louis. After a year they moved to Americus, Georgia, then on to their farm in Centerpoint. Their family enlarged with the birth of the twins and their youngest daughter. In 1991 they moved to Lumpkin, Georgia.
During this time Bonnie worked at the Sumter Regional Hospital and Cordele Hospital. Later Bonnie accepted a job at St. Francis and received her pharmacy doctors' degree from the University of Georgia.
Bonnie was diagnosed with breast cancer and after her recovery accepted a job with West Central Georgia Regional Hospital in Columbus.
Bonnie loved watching her daughters grow and succeed in school, encouraging their creativity and individuality. She and her daughters loved spending baking time for special activities on holidays. Bonnie loved her family, insisting on having a family sit down dinners. Instilling strong family values, the love of their faith, the love between parents and sisters was extremely important to her. Bonnie and Bill are strong fighters, surviving and supporting each other during challenges they faced in life.
The Chapel Service will be held Friday, March 25, 2016, at 11:00 AM, at Macedonia Baptist Church, Centerpoint area, near Richland, Georgia, with burial in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. The family will visit with family and friends after the service.
The Reverend Robert Orr will conduct the service.
