Bobbie D. Parks Holland, 92, of Cusseta, Georgia, broke free of these earthly ties on April 14, 2017, at Four County Health & Rehab in Richland, Georgia. She was born April 21, 1924, in Puckett, Mississippi, to the late Robert N. Parks and Dovie McClain Parks.
Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, of 41 years, Woodrow B. Holland; one brother, Tom Parks; one sister, Clovis Pennington; and a great grandson, Cary Noyes.
Survivors include her two sons, Bobby W. (Audrey) Holland of Hertford, North Carolina, Robert S. (Toni) Holland of Birmingham, Alabama; one sister, Doris Gibson of Jackson, Mississippi; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bobbie was very active in her community. She belonged to the Eastern Star, serving in many positions, including Worthy Matron. She was retired from the Fort Benning Post Exchange (PX). Bobbie was a talented quilter and demonstrated her craft at historic Westville in Lumpkin, Georgia. She was devoted to Westville for many years and was considered one of Westville's treasures.
Mrs. Bobbie joined the Lumpkin United Methodist Church in Lumpkin, Georgia. She was an active member there until she took a bad fall and had to go stay at Hamilton House in Columbus, Georgia. After her rehab in Columbus, she moved down to Four County Health & Rehab in Richland, Georgia.
The Graveside Service was held on Thursday afternoon, April 20, 2017, at 1:00 PM, at the Fort Benning Main Post Cemetery, in Columbus, Georgia. The Reverend Dan Smith officiated the service.
Flowers are not allowed in the cemetery. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mrs. Bobbie's Memory to: Lumpkin Methodist Church, P. O. Box 394, Richland, GA 31825 OR your local animal shelter.
