Betty Heath
Johnston
October 22, 1941 – July 29, 2022
Betty Heath Johnston, 80, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Four County Health and Rehab Center in Richland, Georgia. She was born on October 22, 1941, in Buena Vista, Georgia, to the late Earnest Leroy Heath and Bonnie Kennedy Alston.
Betty loved her grandkids. She loved watching Sophie play softball every chance she got. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. If they were on, she was watching the game on television.
During the time her daughters were attending Greenfield Academy and playing basketball, Betty was the official score book keeper for the teams. She held this position for countless years. Sometimes the trips to and from the game were as exciting as the ball games!
Betty had a massive stroke in 2000, which left Betty wheelchair bound. She loved the nursing home and resided there for 21 years. She always looked forward to every weekend because she knew she was going out to eat with her family. Betty owned and operated her beauty shop in Lumpkin, Georgia, and was a beautician for many years.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Walter Johnston, daughter, Janice Brown, brother, Roland Heath, and sister, Peggy Jean Walker.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Joanna Johnston (Joanna's family, Barbara Times and daughter Penny Brown) of Columbus, Georgia, Jeanne (Tim) Kilcrease of Phenix City, Alabama, Julie (Wesley) Brazier of Mauk, Georgia, brother, Johnny (Paula) Heath, four grandchildren, Seth and Sophie Brazier, Garth Brown, Shelby (Caleb) Woodall, brother-in-law, Wesley Johnston and sisters-in-law, Trudy Johnston, Lou Heath.
A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 4:00 PM, at Northside Cemetery in Lumpkin, Georgia. The Reverend Raymond Smith will officiate the service. The family will visit with friends after the service.
In Lieu of Flowers: may be given in Betty's Memory to Four County Health and Rehab Center.
