Alva Joe Sanders, 83, of Richland, GA, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at the Four County Health & Rehab in Richland, GA.  He was born on May 14, 1930 in Dothan, AL to the late Herbert Oats Sanders and Nettie Clark Morgan.

Mr. Joe was a graduate of the Richland High School and had lived in Richland for 66 years.     Mr. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army.  He was retired from the Civil Service where he worked in the Printing Plant at Ft. Benning, GA.  He was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church where he was an active member of Choir.  He loved to play the guitar until his stroke.  Mr. Joe's life was filled with the love of his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, being an avid coon hunter, playing his guitar, the Braves baseball games and his great hunting buddies.   He was a charter and founding member of the Webster County National Coon Hunters Association.

Mr. Joe is preceded in death by both of his parents, his step-father, Gordon Morgan; his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Lady" Harris Sanders; one brother, Herbert (Tubby) Sanders and his son-in-law Cliff Shannon.

Survivors include his two daughters, Elizabeth "Bebe" (Chris) Shannon of Preston, GA, and JoAnne (Keith) Dacus of Richland, GA; six grandchildren, Chad (Kimberly) Norton, Brandon Norton, Patrick Shannon, Chase Shannon, Chelsea Dacus (Matthew) Phillip and Kix Dacus; five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Beau and Tyler Norton, Jake and Jordan Sanders; and two sisters, Ann McEntee and Charlotte Crawley.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 11:00 AM, Harmony Cemetery in Richland, GA, with the Reverends Robert Orr and Raymond Smith officiating.  No formal visitation service will be held.  Friends and family are invited to visit the family at Bebe's home in Preston.
